Green Printing Facts and Myths


Myth: Recycled paper is all the same

Fact: At AngelPrint.com we truly believe in preserving Earth's natural resources! That's why we don't cut corners by offering low grade paper stocks with only 10% or 20% recycled content which seems to be a new trend in the printing industry. Our recycled paper stocks have a minimum of 80% recycled fiber.




Myth: You can't have it all: high recycled content, high post-consumer content and chlorine free!

Fact: Recycling is a system in place for environmental sustainability; chlorine free refers to the type of bleaching process to whiten the paper stock.
Since 2006 our clients have been benefiting from the fact that we offer high quality papers with high post-consumer recycled content, non-chlorine-bleached from New Leaf Paper, and Mohawk Paper, two of the leading environmental paper companies.

Myth: Environmental Benefits can not be measured when it comes to green printing
Fact: New Leaf Paper offers an ECO AUDIT that can be added to your print design detailing the water, energy, and emissions saved for a given print job.

Myth: All recycled papers look the same.
Fact: Nowadays, recycled paper comes in any weight or finish, heavy or light, glossy, matte or uncoated. High to moderate brightness levels with pleasing light reflection. Ranges from clean bright whites to a wide palette of colors, some of which have specks added back into the paper to achieve a more "recycled" or custom look.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: papers with high post-consumer waste content tend to show color shifts even within the same lot of paper. If color accuracy must be 100% due to corporate identity, some stocks may be more suitable than others. Please discuss this with your customer service representative.

Myth: Recycled papers do not print well

AngelPrint.com is aiming at becoming the first San Diego “Green Certified” printing company (the county does not certify printers yet). We are also in the process of certification in accordance with Forest Steward Council (FSC) standards. However, we’re not waiting and have already began using environmentally friendly procedures and products.

  • You do not need to burn gas to get our quality printing services. We have worked hard to create this Web site, AngelPrint.com, that walks you through every step of the process, from document design to payment. You can get any kind of printing product you need right from your computer. In addition to our full-featured Web site, we have friendly staff ready to answer your questions when you use LiveHelp, e-mail or phone.

  • Our Green Printing department only uses paper with high post-consumer recycled content, whitened without chlorine or chlorine compounds. See paper details below.

  • We use Soy inks. Not only are Soy inks more environmentally friendly than petroleum-based inks, but they create a sharper, brighter image.

  • We participate in Eco Audits. An Eco Audit shows the environmental benefits of using post-consumer recycled paper instead of virgin paper in terms of trees, water, energy, solid waste and greenhouse gases. You may want to reproduce the results of the New Leaf Paper Eco Audit in their printed materials to demonstrate how your company is helping to save the environment.
